From: Lena Voss <[email protected]>
Date: September 8
Subject: Revised billboard proposal

Dear Mr. Greer,

Thank you for your feedback on the billboard designs. We have shortened the slogan as you requested and replaced the photo of the storefront with one of the new outdoor garden section. The three locations on Route 9 remain unchanged, but we recommend adding a fourth at the Eastgate interchange, where traffic is heaviest in the morning. This would raise the total cost from $12,000 to $15,500 for the six-week run.

If you prefer to keep the original budget, we can instead extend the current run by one week. Please let me know which option you choose by Friday so that the printer can begin work on Monday.

Old Mill Becomes New Home for Drayton Residents

DRAYTON (October 6) — After sitting empty for more than twenty years, the former Calder Textile Mill is ready for people again. The Riverside Lofts, a collection of 48 apartments, will welcome its first residents on November 1.

Developer Naomi Castellan said the project cost $9 million, partly covered by a city grant for reusing historic buildings. The mill closed in 1998. “We retained the original brick walls and tall windows because that is what makes the building special,” she said.

Monthly rents start at $1,150 and include access to a shared workshop and a rooftop garden. Nearly half of the apartments have already been reserved, according to the leasing office.

Kettle & Thread Home Goods — ★★★★☆
Reviewed by Rosalind T. on October 2

I stopped by the new Kettle & Thread shop on Calder Street last weekend looking for a set of cotton towels, and I was impressed. The store is smaller than I expected, but every shelf is well organized, and a staff member named Ibrahim helped me compare three brands in minutes. He even pointed out that the towels would shrink slightly in the first wash and suggested buying one size up for the bath sheets.

Prices are a little higher than at the big chain stores, but the quality is clearly better. My only complaint is the checkout: only one register was open, and I waited about fifteen minutes. The owner, who happened to be standing nearby, apologized and gave me a coupon for 10 percent off my next visit. I plan to return before the holidays, when they intend to add a gift-wrapping counter.
